Sistahs are doing it for themselves!

Founded in 2001 by three 'sistahs' (fashion designer Carmen Webber, stylist Carmia Marshell and model Shawna McBean), the trio would revamp vintage t-shirts and sell them on stalls around NYC. McBean is no longer with the company, but the remaining two have expanded their intial venture into a fully fledged fashion line. According to their website, the Sistahs Of Harlem line, ''is defined by the concept of 'Street Couture' - a mixture of urban street fashion and high Parisian style.'' Celebrity fans include Alicia Keys, Julia Roberts, Erykah Badu, Tweet and Katie Couric. I love their clothes because of the ethnic vibe they add to each piece, be it through their choice of fabrics or the shape/cut of their clothes (see the pics above).
