so i just finished the last painting for the "recurrent association" show. im pretty worn out. altogether i painted 27 of them in the last 2 weeks. i couldnt have possible painted even one more. im not happy with 3 of them so they are getting scrapped. the process is a 6 color stencil separation applied with spray paint and then hand painted over with a brush. after i complete the paintings i had them clear coated with automotive paint by amanda lynn, a local sf artist who paints custom motorcycles as her day job. these boxes are fricken bullet proof with the clear coat...she does an excellent job. some of the base coats were also painted by her and have metalic flake and candy coating.
i will have 24 "she-magic" paintings available at lower haters in san francisco. the metal boxes are going for $800 and the wooden boxes are going for $500 available only through lower haters. all of the boxes are 17x17. i did finish a little ahead of schedule so i will be painting a mural at the gallery as well. come out and check it out on feb 21st.
