Black Girls Rock!... Yes We Do!

Regina King, DJ Beverly Bond and Estelle
Kenya Moore and Veronica Webb
Malinda Williams and Vanessa Williams
Iman and Sylvia Rhone
Teyanna Taylor and Erykah Badu
June Ambrose and Sylvia Taylor

Last night, New York played host to VH1 Soul's 3rd annual Black Girls Rock extravaganza! In attendance were honorees singer Estelle, as well as actress Pam Grier, and 70s models Bethanne Hardison and Iman. Other guest included singers Faith Evans, Teyanna Taylor and Erykah Badu; actresses Malinda Williams, Vanessa Williams, Kenya Moore and Regina King; and Veronica Webb, June Ambrose, Susan Taylor and of course DJ Beverly Bond. See the pics above for red carpet shots of all our favorite divas. My personal favorites are Ms. Moore's and Veronica Webb - work it ladies!! If you want to feel like the fabulous sista that you are, click here to buy a "Black Girls Rock" t-shirt.

Erykah graces the cover of Essence....

It's about time Essence put someone else on their cover and who better than Ms. Badu diva extraordinaire. Rocking a ginormous 'fro on the April 2008 cover, Erykah talks men, music and what it is to be a mom. I haven't heard her new album "New Amerykah" yet, but knowing it debuted at number 2 on the Billboard charts lets me know it's good! Pick up a copy when it hits newstands on March 12th.

Erykah Badu on the cover of Heart & Soul…

I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t read Heart & Soul magazine but I was so excited to see Erykah Badu will be on the February/March cover. She took a couple of shots with her two year-old daughter, Puma, who is such a cutie pie. See more pics here. I’m not too sure about Erykah's hair but she looks great! :)

Style Inspiration: Eclectic

Erykah Badu looking chic and polished, but why the unhappy face? She always looks like she's about to 'shank a hoe!'
Suzanne Boyd, former editor of Flare and Suede magazine, and Kelis work their respective looks.

I'm really trying to broaden my style! I'm a basic colors kinda gal, who is always drawn to the black items in the store rather than the funkier stuff! So I took inspiration from the ladies above and found these cute pieces that I think I might actually wear... but not all at the same time!

Erykah Badu

Erykah Badu performs at the 3rd Annual Roots Jam Session at Key Club February 7, 2006 in Los Angeles
Erykah Badu is a little eccentric, but that's what we love about her right? Here she is looking super stylish in an outfit only she could pull off... eclectic can be cool! I just got through watching her performance on Dave Chappelle's 'Block Party' and she was on point - keep doing what you do Erykah!

Steal Erykah's Style...

Dress: Exclusive Silk Empire Waist Dress by Misses', $69.99 available at Bloomingdales

Hat: Olive Green Suede Cloth Fedora Hat, $25.95 available at www.goomoo.com
Shoes: Kyrstyan, $69.99, Aldo

Wearing a fedora like this is a definite style statement and the last thing you want is to look like somebody's P.I.M.P! So, if you decide to embrace this style make sure you work an angle, be it funk, eclectic, jazz etc. Also make sure you accessorize however, Erykah's purple stockings are optional! ;)
