Last night, New York played host to VH1 Soul's 3rd annual Black Girls Rock extravaganza! In attendance were honorees singer Estelle, as well as actress Pam Grier, and 70s models Bethanne Hardison and Iman. Other guest included singers Faith Evans, Teyanna Taylor and Erykah Badu; actresses Malinda Williams, Vanessa Williams, Kenya Moore and Regina King; and Veronica Webb, June Ambrose, Susan Taylor and of course DJ Beverly Bond. 623 seamstresses beaten and whipped, 537 stylists cursed, 469 shoes re-dyed, 313 nails chiseled and 165 curling irons burnt-out and it was, for the most part, worth it. Many will debate the necessity of Ms. Hudson’s gold jacket but if nothing else, she’s been reading this blog (see below!) No one dress blew me away but I loved the way Oprah, Anika Noni Rose, Beyonce and Penelope Cruz looked.

Jada’s dress was disappointing. I’m not too sure what the bodice was all about. Keisha Whitaker's dress was ugly to me in the back with the roses but she still worked it and can someone explain to me who Shaun Robinson and Tanika Ray are?! Seriously, I see them all the time and I have no idea what they do.

Lasty, the men were sharp in their tuxes, bar Quincy. Wasn't Jaden so cute presenting an Oscar? I’m mad that Djimon didn’t win but at least he looked yummy. Don’t worry Djimon, you can always come cry on my shoulder!

The 2006 Black Movie Awards took place on Sunday night, the event is only on its second year but it already knows how to bring in the A-listers. Oprah, Angela Bassett, Tyler Perry, Spike Lee, Lynn Whitfield, and Jill Scott were all in attendance. I have to say the older ladies won out over their younger counterparts in the style stakes. Angela, Oprah and Lynn Whitfield looked STUNNING! If I look half as good as they do at 50 I’ll be happy. As for the ‘young ones,’ Tracee and Lauren London held it down, both their dresses were divine. But where were the usual suspects, Gabby, Sanaa and Vivica were all M.I.A. And as for the men, Shemar Moore and Tyler Perry looked delicious… It’s time for another AMEN!

The 2006 MTV Video Movie Awards occured yesterday evening, and here is the breakdown... Jlo killed that outfit with the headscarf, pure and simply! Christina's dress is show-stopping, but I've never been a fan of her bright blonde hair and red lipstick. Ciara could, and should, have tried a little harder, while Monica needs to revert back to a darker and more natural hair color. The top four ladies looked great, though Cassie should have left the necklace at home! See more pics below...

I think Solange, Beyonce and Jessica Simpson look stunning in the above pics. Black hair definitely suits Solange it warms up her face which sounds like a funny thing to say, but golden blonde hair doesn't work on everyone. MTV presenter Vanessa Millino, wore a simply gorgeous dress and her colleague, La La looked nice, but I'm not fully convinced by hers! Paris Hilton and Lorianne need to go sit down somewhere. I'll never know what possesed both of them to wear those boots!

It's nice to have friends in high places! Diddy hosted this lavish party to celebrate the launch of the new book "Effortless Style" by June Ambrose. She even got Beyonce to attend!... The 58th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards aired last night on NBC and here are some of the red carpet arrivals... I didn't even watch the show but from these pictures the event looked very blah, blah, blah. I love Tyra and Eva's dresses and the two couples at the bottom look great, but other then that they weren't many highlights. On another note, is Heidi expecting another baby?... She stays pregnant!

The 2006 Teen Choice Awards took place last night and a lot of the big stars came out to play! Rihanna, Christina and the Jessica's looked fabulous as usual. I love both Nelly Furtado and Rihanna's dresses - very different! The boys opted for a more casual look, not too sure about Luda's sneakers, but overall everyone looks great... A-!

New York was the place to be over the weekend as two star studded events took place! The first was the 'Flaunt Your Flirt' auction which benefits VH1's Save the Music fund, held in the Hamptons. Celebrities spotted there included Ciara, Russell Simmons, Lyfe Jennings, Gayle King, Nicolette Sheriden and Goapele... The second event was the Art for Life dinner, hosted by soon to be divorced (?) couple Russell and Kimora Lee Simmons at their estate. The Art for Life - Seventh Heaven benefit supports the 'creative expression of NYC youth.' Star Jones, Tichina Arnold, Debra Lee, Julissa (from BET) and Gayle King were all in attendance... I miss New York!
