Winter can be oh so depressing but a cute chunky knit can put a skip in your step. If you don't believe me check out Meagan Good above, her sweater dress has put some zing in her stride. Take a cue from her and find a stylish knit to cover up in this season. French Connection's web site has some really cute selections.

Color Complex

Taraji P. Henson arrives at the Black Enterprise All-Star gathering celebrating Oscar week on February 20, 2008 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.
Mel B spotted in Los Angeles, California earlier this year.
Meagan Good with Tulle Coats at Boost Mobile at Marquee Lounge on January 21, 2008 in Park City, Utah.
Cate Blanchett and Andrew Upton pose during the official launch of the Sydney Theatre Company's '2009 Main Stage Season' at the Wharf Restaurant on September 1, 2008 in Sydney, Australia.

Alas, fall is coming. I'm not sure I'm ready yet. Try brightening up the impending cooler days with a bold, colored coat/jacket. Rainbow inspired outerwear is so easy to find. Every online boutique and high street store are offering an array of show-stopping hues. Just be sure to pick the color that best matches your complexion - not everyone can get away with sunshine yellow.

Shop Cute!

Rihanna goes shopping with girlfriend and new dog DJ at Fred Segal and Barneys New York, January 5, 2008.
Halle Berry shopping with her Mom in Beverly Hills, May 25, 2007.

Kelly Rowland was out shopping at the National Jean Company in Washington DC, March 12, 2008.

Ah there’s nothing like a day of retail therapy. Now that the weather is warming up we have the perfect excuse to update our closet. Some say it’s best to wear clothing that is easy to put on and take off, but I’m a firm believer of looking good at all times. Celebrities have to constantly be on their toes just in case the papparazi catch them on an off day. See the ladies above. All of them are about to drop serious dollars but they look good doing it and so should you!

If I Had My Way: Meagan Good

Meagan Good attending the 14th annual American Society of Young Musicians' House of Blues Spring Benefit Concert & Awards Show at the House of Blues on June 13, 2006 in LA.
Meagan’s look is getting a little repetitive, non?

What do you do when a very beautiful lady gets stuck with the same ol’ look? You hold a style intervention that’s what. Meagan think of us as your close (and very style conscious I might add!) friends giving you some good-hearted advice. I’ll start the ball rolling…

If I Had My Way… I’d introduce Meagan to jeans that don’t require four people to help pull them off. There’s such a thing as too tight.
If I Had My Way… I’d hide all her ghetto gold earrings on top of a beehive.
If I Had My Way… I’d cover all her tight, tiny tees with itching powder.
If I Had My Way… I’d sell her flesh colored Marc Jacob’s bag and heels on Ebay.
If I Had My Way… I’d put her in a classic, floaty summer dress that stops just above her knees; cut her hair into long layers; and give some leather flip flops and sunglasses for a laid-back summer look.

What would you do with Ms. Good?

Style on the Go...

Kenya Moore arriving at the premiere of Screen Gem's "Stomp The Yard" at the Cinerama Dome on Monday night in LA.
Jennifer Hudson arriving for her David Letterman appearance two nights ago.
Malinda Williams attending the 33rd Annual People’s Choice Awards last night in LA.
Meagan Good attending the premiere of Screen Gem's "Stomp The Yard" at the Cinerama Dome on Monday night in LA.
Tia Mowry arriving at the premiere of Screen Gem's "Stomp The Yard" at the Cinerama Dome on Monday night in LA.

I couldn’t pick just four people so I threw in an extra celebrity. Jennifer Hudson has really impressed me these last couple of weeks. Granted she’s lost a lot of weight but that is not what I’m referring to. Her style choices, or perhaps her stylist’s, have vastly improved. I think she looks so elegant in this black, knee length dress that she wore on Letterman… her stock is really on the rise.

Meagan Good, Kenya Moore and Tia Mowry were all at the “Stomp The Yard” premiere (I might actually go to see this movie for the dancing). All the aforementioned ladies looked fabulous, especially Kenya Moore who looked STUNNING in her plum colored dress. Tia Mowry had the best accessory of all. She brought along her cute fiancé Cory Hardrict and made sure the paps got a good pic of her rock! Congrats to her.

Finally, Malinda Williams channeled the 1930s with her short, wavy hair. The dress is a little awkward in the front but the color is perfect for her. Look out for Malinda in Tyler Perry’s next movie “Daddy’s Little Girls.” Until then peep her personal site here.

Are You Faking It?

Mary J. Blige and her husband Kendu Isaacs, seated front row at the 2006 Billboard Music Awards last week.
Kimora Lee Simmons arriving at Paramount Pictures' and Walden Media's screening of ‘Charlotte's Web’ at Clearview Chelsea West last week in New York City.
Candid of Kelly Rowland shopping on Fifth Avenue in New York City last week.
Queen Latifah attending the "Dreamgirls" premiere presented by DreamWorks Pictures & Paramount Pictures at the Ziegfeld Theatre on earlier this week in New York City.
Meagan Good walks on Main Street during the Sundance Film Festival back in 2004 in Park City, Utah. – Are these boots ridiculous? Yes. Does Meagan get away with them? Absolutely!

I in no way, shape or form advocate the skinning alive of animals for fur. It’s not even necessary in this day and age… Just fake it! I know Mary J. Blige, Kimora and possibly Kelly are certainly not faking. Some poor fox suffered for that wrap on Mary’s shoulders. And look at the pic of the Queen… :(

I think fake fur can look just as elegant and glamorous as the real thing, plus you don’t have to sleep with one eye open worrying if that was PETA you heard outside your window (them folks are serious with the cause!) So this winter faking it is good… See below for the goods.

Heavy Metal

Goapele attending the Kelis and VH1 Soul Present: The Summer of Soul Party in August of this year.
Mya at Jessica Simpson's Album Release Party in New York City over the summer.Meagan Good seen early in the morning outside the National Night Club in Hollywood last year.

Admittedly this trend isn’t for me, but for you more open-minded fashionistas these metallic boots are a great alternative to the brown and black boots currently filling the shops. Follow in Goapele, Mya and Meagan’s footsteps and illuminate your outfit with a touch metal.

It's a Wrap!

Singer Joy Denalane loving her look for the day!
Tracee Ellis Ross, Meagan Good and Alicia Keys all dress up their look with scarves

People always ask me where I buy my scarves from (I have over 20!), but i've stopped splashing out on silk scarves that cost $25. Instead I go to my local fabric store and buy remnants of fabric for dirt cheap or you can go to stores such as Wal-mart, Walgreens and Target and rummage through their sales bins!! Scarves change your whole look and are low-maintenance; so those days when I really can't be bothered to do anything with my hair I wrap it up!! See the ladies above for inspiration... :)

BET Style... continued

Seeing Spots?! Meagan Good, Fantasia and Remy all opted for Leopard print this year.
WHAT WERE THEY THINKING? Tocorra and Paris missed the mark, big time!

Not everyone was looking their best! Paris, of American Idol fame, really could have done better - this get-up looks like she came straight from the mall! Tocorra, I have no words...
