You may already be familiar with Sass & Bide’s denim collections, namely their jeans, but they also have a great ready-to-wear line that’s both wearable and innovative. The label was founded by two women who hail from Australia, but got their start on London’s Portobello Road, selling their designs from a market stall. Fast forward to 2006, and the duo are presenting their Spring 2007 collection in The Promenade in New York City. Their runway show was all about volume and layering, a trend already apparent in this year’s Olympus Fashion Week, and a geometric theme can be seen on the top half of almost all their pieces. I thought the overalls/suspenders attached to a skirt were cute, but I don’t think I’d wear many of these clothes – they seem like they’d appeal to the edgier fashionistas among us. Sass & Bide’s motto is “don’t look too pretty,” which pretty much summarizes this collection.
