Even More Excitement
So when I checked my emails this afternoon, I saw one from Russ Abbott. I'd previously contacted him about doing one of the Mucha girls. Well, he said he wanted to meet me in person and do a consult. I called and we set it up. He sounds really nice. So depending on when he decides to take me on, I need to contact Memorial and tell Phil he only needs to do the one on the left. That's going to look really cool. So I'm going Tuesday night to consult with him.
Still excited about the possibility of working for Mark. I was talking to the manager of Memorial and she said they all loved him. I'm hoping I don't chicken out and not bring it up. This is my shot and if I don't take it, I'll probably spend a long time kicking myself. I guess the easiest thing to do is ask if he was serious about and, if so, I want to work something out ASAP. I'm trying to figure out a way to explain how much I want to do something like this and not sound like an obsessed fruitcake. I'll probably sound slightly obsessed and fruitcake-y, but it's a hazard of the trade. I've been pretty ballsy about stuff like this lately, so maybe I can keep the trend going. *deep breath*

Biggest Aircraft
Designed by World War I aviator Konstantin Kalinin with a wingspan greater than a B-52's and a much greater wing area, the K-7 was one of the biggest aircraft built before the jet age. It was only one engine short of the B-52 as well, having the curious arrangement of six pulling on the wing leading edge and one pushing at the rear. The K-7's very brief first flight showed up instability and serious vibration caused by the airframe resonating with the engine frequency. The solution to this 'flutter' was thought to be to shorten and strengthen the tail booms, little being known then about the natural frequencies of structures and their response to vibration. On the 11th flight, during a speed test, the port tailboom vibrated, fractured, jammed the elevator and caused the giant aircraft to plough into the ground, killing 15. Undaunted by this disaster, Kalinin's team began construction of two further K-7s in a new factory, but the vicissitudes of Stalin's Russia saw the project abandoned, and in 1938 the arrest and execution of Kalinin on trumped up espionage and sabotage charges. John Abraham has hurt his leg badly yet again.
It was while shooting for David Dhawan’s film Hook Ya Crook that the accident happened. A unit hand informed us that John had to slip down a 20-foot pole for a scene. He didn’t get it right and slid quite badly. Unfortunately for John, he landed directly on his leg. Despite being ordered take some rest, John quickly treated himself to some first-aid medication, and went pole sliding all over again. This time he got it right, and then rushed to the X-ray clinic. Talk about wanting to get it right, hook ya crook.
Emraan Hashmi shares his plans for 'Raaz 3' and fatherhood
His "Raaz 2" has got an encouraging opening and actor Emraan Hashmi (pictured left) is all set to work in the third installment of the spooky thriller. He also feels secure enough to start a family now."We're trying for a baby and we should be parents by next year. One is never prepared for fatherhood. And if I wait to be fully prepared, it will never happen. But I'm getting into the mindset now," Emraan, who is married to Parveen Shahani, told IANS.
Talking about "Raaz 3", he said: "Yes we're on," said Emraan. "The third part will also be directed by Mohit Suri and I'll play the lead. The rest of the details are yet to be decided. The cast of the second 'Raaz' film was totally new. And I think I'm going to be the only actor common to 'Raaz 2' and '3'."
Emraan feels vindicated by the audiences' response to "Raaz 2", which also starred Kangana Ranaut and newcomer Adhyayan Suman.
"My wife kept telling me I should try the genre. I had never done horror before. It's believed in the trade that horror films open well and then soon fizzle out. But then it was also believed that a film looking at the seamier side of cricket ('Jannat') would never do well.
"I like to walk the lonely path. That's why you don't see me at parties and functions. Maybe that's why I play the part of the loner and watch another guy take away the girl I love," Emran said, drawing attention to his loser-lover's role in "Awarapan" and now "Raaz 2".
Emraan, who has been lying low during the publicity of "Raaz 2" thanks to all the focus on real-life pair Kangana-Adhyayan, says he didn't feel left out.
"Kangana and Adhyayan were a real-life couple. I can't concoct an affair just to be noticed. I was confident my work would speak for itself. Sure enough I believe people clap when I come on screen the first time. I do have fan base, though it might be small," he said.

India in 2008, beating competitors like Katrina, Bipasha and Kareena.Though she is not an internet addict, Deepika is planning to launch her own website in order to stay in close touch with her fans and provide them with an update on her life and career. Apparently, she answers all the emails fans send her.
To begin with, she is searching for a suitable domain name for her website.

After 'Munnabhai' Sanjay Dutt, it could be the turn of Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha polls as a Samajwadi Party candidate.Samajwadi Party workers and leaders in Bihar have decided to offer Aishwarya the party ticket for the Madhepura seat against Janata Dal-United (JD-U) national president Sharad Yadav, a party official said.
In view of the overwhelming demand of the party workers, the Samajwadi Party Bihar parliamentary board has recommended Aishwarya's name to party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Senior party leader Tulsi Singh told IANS that a large number of party workers and people had requested him to convince Mulayam Singh to give the party ticket to Aishwarya from Madhepura. Singh is chairman of the party's state parliamentary board.
The Madhepura seat is held by the Rashtriya Janata Dal's Pappu Yadav, who is serving life imprisonment in Tihar Jail in Delhi for his involvement in the murder of Left leader Ajit Sarkar. His wife Ranjita Ranjan is a Lok Janshakti Party MP from Saharsa.
JD-U leader Sharad Yadav is likely to contest from Madhepura, his old seat.
In the last Lok Sabha polls in 2004, Railway Minister Lalu Prasad, the RJD chief, won from Madhepura by defeating Sharad Yadav. Lalu Prasad later resigned the Madhepura seat and opted to retain the Chapra seat.
Madhepura, a rural seat, is dominated by the backward Yadav caste. Last year, Madhepura was hit by devastating floods when the Kosi river changed its course after a breach upstream in Nepal.

So I called Mark, as I said I was going to. A girl answers the phone and when I get Mark on I asked who she was. He said she was his newest "counter girl" who does all the bitch work that he doesn't like to do (answer phones, greet people, get coffee, clean things, etc). I jokingly said "Why haven't you asked me to do that yet?" and he was like "Well, you never came to mind because you already have 2 jobs". I told him that I would make something like that work because it was important to me. He said if I was really interested in it we could talk about it later. I told him he didn't even have to pay me, but I'd work out some kind of barter system. He seemed pretty amenable to the idea and consented that I hang around the shop so much, I have a decent amount of "shop experience".
If this actually pans out, I may cry from happiness. I'd pretty much given up on any hope of working in a shop. Ever. If I can make this work, I really don't think I'd know what to do with myself. I'm already good at dealing with people, I'm used to doing bitch work, and I get to hang out with two of the coolest people I know. I wouldn't even care that I was doing it for free. I suppose I could bring it up again on Sunday and see what he says. As with all "dream jobs", I'm afraid he wasn't serious or I was dreaming or some combination of the two. Tomorrow I am embarking on my very own Wizard of Oz-like experience. I've packed up my worldly possessions and will be driving back to Sydney (yep, that's 12 hours in the car), ready to start fashion school (finally, after all my hype)! Actually, classes officially start the following week but there's going to be an industrial sewing skills bridging course (how fancy) and orientation for us newbies starting on Monday. I'm super excited!!! In fact, there aren't enough exclamation points to show my excitement!!! If you're interested (yes? no?), I'll try to share bits and pieces of what it's like to be a fashion student. :)

More Potential Retirements and General Updates
Haven't heard back from Malia, but I really wasn't expecting to. The shop manager messaged me and said she should be getting back to me in a few days. It's not like there's a rush on it.
I need to call Mark this afternoon. I'll probably do it as I go to work out. I could probably do it from my desk, but honestly, I like to keep those kinds of conversations as private as possible. Some things I'm fine with talking about in earshot of others, but my tattoos (and money) are not on the list.
Apparently Christina has taken over ownership of Piercing Experience and she's working on making it a friendlier place. I'm pretty happy about that. She's a cool chick and I think she can get people who are equally cool. She was about the only one who wouldn't talk down to you or sound like she was talking down to you. I hope she succeeds and if so, I might consider going back there again. This is helped by the fact that Melanie is out of town until further notice. Of course, I'm not really in a piercing kind of mood. I'm even considering taking some out. My VCH has been bugging the crap out of me, especially since I've had the worst period in recent memory this week. My nipples still haven't healed after a YEAR. I like my navel piercing, so I'll probably keep it and I like the stuff in my ears. I don't think I'm going to redo my tragii. I may get an inner conch done. I hear those can be tempermental, but since I have the H20cean now, I'm a bit more optimistic on that front.
I whacked my nose stud at least 3 times in my sleep. It's all red and irritated today. It got a good cleaning and I took some Advil, so I hope that will help calm it down. The chest dermal is happy as well. It's been the best behaved of all my piercings, interestingly enough. I really don't have any trouble with it. I just keep an eye on it when I'm pulling off certain kinds of shirts.
Not really getting excited about Lola yet. Probably because I've been spacey, tired, crabby, and overworked this past week. I haven't really been able to focus on it. Instead I've been focusing on how crappy a period I've been on and I can't seem to keep anything in my head for more than 10 minutes. *sigh*

far too busy
painting for praxis, along with tattooing and fatherhood, has kept me far to busy to update this blog as often as i should. the paintings for praxis are completely done, crated up and ready to be shipped. back to life as normal starting with a week in seattle and the a week in the sf bay area. i will be tattooing with the guys at artcore in seattle (Feb 4th to 7th) and then samuel oreillys in santa cruz (feb 9th - 12) and then back to skull and sword in sf (feb 13th -17th). the opening for "praxis" is at lower haters in the lower haight of san francisco on feb 13th. those is the area feel free to stop by and see the show. here is another teaser.
